!BIRTH: 1850 Census of Fannin county, TX and Walter Flup (great-grandson), Ector, Fannin county, TX and Mrs. W. J. Duckworth, Bonham, TX. Also the book BIOGRAPHICAL SOUVENIR OF THE STATE OF TEXAS, F. A. Battery & Co., Chicago, IL 1887 and pictures of tombstone. Also 1860 Census of Fannin county, TX He is listed in the 1830 and 1840 Census records of Bond county, IL.

!DEATH: Buried in Carson cemetery in Fannin county, TX. Pictures of the tombstone.

!NOTES: Family records and the Biographical Souvenir of the State of Texas indicate the family came to Texas in 1846 and settled in Fannin county, TX. Some records indicate Padion was born in Tennessee, but the census roles of 1850 and 1860 give his birthplace as North Carolina. The 1880 census lists the birth place of the mother and father. In the 1880 census the children Alexander Padion Duckworth Jr. and William Jasper Duckworth have both parents born in TN and Andrew Jackson Duckworth has the parents born in NC. I have not reviewed the detailed 1880 census for the other children. It is believed that his father was Abel Hankins Duckworth, but in 1996, there is no known proof this is his father. Padion was a farmer and at one time had a grocery store at Flup in Fannin county, TX. (The town of Fulp is no longer on the Texas maps, but was north of Savoy in Fannin county, TX.)

!NOTES: Will book F page 425 Fannin county, TX: "Will and Testament of A. P. Duckworth dated January 26, 1867. To all whom it may concern. I Alexander Padian Duckworth being of sound mind and memory, and uninfluenced by any person or persons and couscious of the uncertainty of life do most solumnly acknowledge and ??? before God and these witnesses this to be my last Will and Testament in regard to the disposition of my real and personal property and the manner in which I desire my children to act after my demise in case of my death before theirs. I bequeath to Wm J and Parlines E. Duckworth my two younger children the same amount of property that I have before given to my other children. I bequeath to Gincy Duckworth my wife the house in which I now reside including all my real estate and as much stock, tools, farming implements, household furniture as will insure her a comfortable home during her lifetime and after her demise the said property to be equally divided among my lawful heirs. After deducting the above property, I wish all the remaining property divided or sold and the proceeds divided into eight shares of equal amounts of which Mary A. Price to have one share, James F. Duckworth one share, Alexander P. Duckworth Jr. one share, Andrew J. Duckworth one share, Sarah J. Lee one share for her own purposes and one share to hold in trust and manage for the benefit of Louisa E. H. A. Morrow, only child of my daughter Louisa Eveline until such time as the said Louise E. H. A. Morrow should arrive at a lawful age to manage her own affairs. Now, have disposed of my real and personal property I will state the plan on which I wish my children to act after my demise if it should occur before theirs. I have endeavored to do equal justice by all of your not favoring or prefering one above another. In this respect emulate my example. Be as one family, act together in harmony, do unto each other as you would wish be done by, and the last and most solumn request I make here of you is to take the care of, protect and sustain your mother, see that she want for nothing, to her you owe your existence and your obligations can only cease when there is no longer a demand for this." This will was entered into the records on July 30th, 1867. His name was spelled different ways, but he signed his will as Padion.

!NOTES: Marriage appears to have taken place in Lincoln county, TN.

!NOTES: From the Duckworth Collection of Dr. John Duckworth, D.V.M of Kingston, TN (LDS Microfilm role: #1597723, page 1046): "Middle Tennessee grant 4466, Padion Duckworth, 50 acres, entered 22 December 1924 by No. 710. Beginning at a sugartree marked X, (text deleted) to a stake in Samuel Duckworth's line, North 63.5 ples to the beginning." Recorded 19 March 1827 in Book 5-921." Also on November 16, 1829, Padion Duckworth sold the 50 acres in Lincoln county, TN to Harris Mauldin for $100.00. The land is described as being on the west fork of Cane Creek. (Deed book H-1, page 527)
