!NOTES: Sherman Democrat, July 31, 1940: Mrs. Lucy Duckowrth, 80, died at 1:40 A.M. Wednesday at her home, 1101 West Chestnut, where she had been ill five weeks. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 P.M. Thursday at the Armstrong Avenue Church of Christ, Leland Alton, pastor, officiating. The Denison funeral home will have charge of burial in Carson cemetery near Ector. Surviving relatives include a son, Clarance Duckworth, employee of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas railroad here; three grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Lucinda Ball of Denton; Mrs Eva McSpadden of Sulphur Springs, and Mrs. Ziza Duckworth of Bonham. Mrs. Duckworth was born Paril 11, 1856 at Lafayette, Wisconsin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Fulp, and came to Texas with her parents when she was eight, locating in Bonham. The one time postoffice at Fulp, near Ector in Fannin county, was named for her father. She was married to Benjamin Duckworth in 1880. They moved to Denison in 1911. Mr. Duckworth died here some years ago, since which time Mrs. Duckworth has been living with her son." (Page 9 with picture)

!NOTES: Abilene Reporter News: "Estelle Duckworth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Duckworth, and Foy L. Brantley, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Brantley of Childress, recited their nuptial vows Saturday at 6 o'clock in the home of the bride's parents, 1609 North East Sixeenth Street. C. A. Norred, minister of the College Church of Christ, performed the ceremony before an improvised alter of fern and smilax. Palms and ferns were other decorations used. Wedding music included "I Love You Truly," sung my Mrs. Walter H. Adams and "Melody in F," played by Mrs. W. M. Yowell. The bride was gowned in navy blue velvet and carried a bouquet of pink briarcliff roses. Irene Duckworth, who served her sister as maid of honor, wore a wine velvet dress and carried talisman roses. The reception followed the ceremony with the bride making the first incision in a three-tiered wedding cake, decorated with minature bride and bridegroom. Mrs. Adams presided at the punch bowl, while Jo Bill Duckworth was in charge of the registry. Mrs. Brantley's traveling dress was a black tunic, with rinestone trim, and she used black accessories. The couple went last night to Wichita Falls and will continue today to Childress where his parents will entertain with a wedding dinner. They will go Monday to Samnore wood, largest rural school in Texas where both teach. He is principal of the Dozier ward School and she is a primary teacher. The school opened the term in August and will close during the October. The couple will take their honeymoon in October. Both Mr. and Mrs. Brantley received their college training at Abilene Christian College taking their degrees with the 1936 class. Mrs. Brantley was a member of G.A.T.A. social club, "W" club, honor organization, and the Kitten Club. He was the Editor and business manager of "The Optimist" during his junior year and a member of the press club." Thursday, September 3, 1936.

!NOTES: Hood County News, October, 1996: "Foy and Estelle Brantley recently celebrated their 60th anniversary in a special way. Friends of theirs from Midland, B. C. and Mary Girdley are now living in Austin invited them down for a weekend. While they were sitting around, a call came from the Governor's Mansion. It was the First Lady of Texas, Laura Bush, calling to congratulate them and inviting them to the Mansion for appetizers. The Brantleys are good friends of Laura's parents and have known Laura since she was two years old. They got a special tour of the Mansion and enjoyed seeing the Bush twin daughters again. A puppy followed them around with a tennis ball in its mouth, waiting for someone to play with it and come to find out it was an offspring of the famous White House dog, Millie. Laura said it was waiting for George to come home to play ball, but he was out of town."
