!MARRIAGE: As above. We attended the wedding, where I gave the bride away.

!NOTES: Entered the U.S. Army as a regular commissioned officer on his graduation from Texas Tech University. Was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Later attended the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California, and the Army language School in Monterey. He was assigned posts in Ft. Richardson, Alaska; Ft. Benning, Georgia; the Foreign Affairs School in Tunisia, Tunis; with the United Nations Observer Group in Naharia, Israel (the year Lt.Col. Higgins was the commander and was kidnapped and later killed; and the year the United Nations Peace Keeping Forces received the Nobel Peace Prize); and back to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He participated in Operation Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf where he served as a liason officer with Saudi Arabia. Just before the land forces engaged the Iraqi forces he rejoined the 3rd Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division and was with this division on a wide sweep west into Iraq before turning east to the Euphrates River. At the conclusion of hostilities he returned to Ft. Bragg. He then served with the Military Assistance Program at the American Embassy in Amman, Jordan.
