!NOTES: Data from Texas Civil War Pension #15153: (1) birth place was Logan County, KY; (2) moved to Texas in 1875; (3) lived in Fisher County, Texas in 1926 and had lived at Sylvester, Texas for three years; (4) his occupation was listed as "Justice of the Peace and Notary Public".

!NOTES: Civil War service per Texas Pension #15153: "This is to certify that I have known Presley S. Stark since 1859, and that he enlisted in the Missouri State Services at College Mound, Macon County, Missouri, in August 1861. That he was afterwards enlisted and mustered into the Confederate Services at Sac River, in St. Clair County, Missouri, December, 1861, and became a member of Company I, Fifth Missouri Volunteer Infantry, provisional Army of the Confederate States of American, and that he was such in May, 1865, when he was paroled at or about Granada, Mississippi. During said time, I was the Captain commanding said Company I, and that said Stark was a good, faithful and true soldier, during said time, and I thae it that his wounds today will speak for themselves. Witness, whereof I have hereto set my hand, at Macon, Macon County, Missouri, this 17, day of May, 1907." Signed by Captain Ben Eli Guthrie.

!NOTES: Civil War Parole per Texas Pension #15153: "Granada, Miss, May 18, 1865. P. E. Stark of Company C Regiment 3 & 5 Missouri C. S. A. residing in Robertson County, Tenn having been, with the approval of the proper authorities, paroled, is permitted to return to his home, not to be disturbed by the United States authorities, so long as he observes his parole and the laws in force where he may reside." Signed Major General E. R. S. Canby, U.S.A.

!NOTES: Civil War Records per War Department: "It is shown by the records that Pressley S. Stark, private, Company I. 5th Missouri Infantry, Confederate States Army, enlisted December 5, 1861. On a roll of the company for July and August, 1864, last on file, he is reported as absent 'Disabled and detained in Commissary, Dept.' No record has been found of the capture or parole of a man of the name and organization mentioned above, but the records of prisioners of war do show that one P. J. Starke, Sergeant, Compnay C. 3rd and 5th Missouri Infantry, Confederate States Army, surendered May 4, 1865, at Citronelle, Alabama, and was paroled May 18, 1865, at Grenada, Mississippi. No other records of P. J. Starks mentioned has been found in the Confederate archives." Dated Spetember 18, 1909.

!NOTES: Mortuary Warrant in Texas Pension #15153: States that Presley S. Stark diec on September 7, 1929 in Seminole, Gaines Couty, Texas. He died at the home of T. O. Stark who was his son. Guy Stark signed this document in 1929.
