!DEATH: Killed by a drunk driver on 14 June, 1997 in Missouri.
!NOTES: Carrollton Democrat, Carrollton, MO, Tuesday June 17, 1997, "Accident claims the lives of three Carroll County residents. Shortly before midnight Saturday, June 14, a two vehicle accident on US 24 highway claimed the lives of three Carroll County residents. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop A, the accident occurred at approximately 11:48 PM two miles east of the Route B intersection on US 24 highway. Patrick R. Pyle, 29, of Hale was traveling eastbound in his 1990 Buick when the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway. As Pyle tried to steer back onto the roadway, he over-corrected and jumped back toward the center of the highway. The driver of the second vehicle, Albert "Cully" Goodin, 51, of Carrollton, was heading westbound in his 1986 Chevy when the accident occurred. Goodwin's wife, Rebecca, 53, was also in the vehicle. The Goodin's vehicle hit the passenger side of Pyle's vehicle as it crossed the center line. All three individuals were taken to the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton. Cully Goodin, a broker and insurance agent in Carrollton since 1980, and Rebecca were returning home from a performacne at the Lyceum Theater in Arrow Rock, Missouri. In 1983, Goodin, along with Mary Ann Buzard, of Carrollton, purchased what is now Insurance Protection Agency in Carrollton. The agency was originally owned by Clayton Bridges, Rebecca's father. Goodin also owned Goodin Oil Company for approximately 8 years, which operated the former Amoco Standard Service Station. The gas station in Carrollton was closed in July 1994 following the flood of 1993. Rebecca was a homemaker. The couple has two surving adult children, WIlliam Goodin of San Diego, California and Catherine Miller of Carrolton. Pyle was an auto body technician at Wards Body SHop in Carrollton. He had been with the company since September of 1994."
!NOTES: Obit: Carrollton Democrat, Carrollton, MO, June 17, 1997 page 14: "Cully Goodin, age 51, of Carrollton, Missouri, died June 14, 1997, with his wife, near Carrollton. He was born October 7, 1945 in Cairo, Illinois, the son of Catherine Vaughn Dalton and Albert Cullison Goodin, Sr. He attended Murray State University in Kentucky where he received a degree in Industrial Arts. One June 10, 1969, he was married to Becky Bridges in Carrollton. Cully served proudly as an officer in the United States Army from 1967 to 1979. He served in Vietnam in 1970-71 as a helicopter pilot with the 7th Cavalry Division where he flew numerous combat missions and was awarded several citations. He later served as an artillery officer until 1979 when he ended his military service. He then began working for Clayton Bridges as an insurance agent. He has co-owned and operated Insurance Agency until the present time. Survivors include a son, William Goodin and his wife, Kara, San Diego; a daughter, Catherine Miller, and her husband, Jarrod, Carrollton; a grandsone, Sawyer Cole Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents. Joint funeral services will be 1:30 PM Thursday, June 19, 1997, at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton, conducted by the Reverend Joe Barone. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton."
