!BIRTH: 1860 Census Ballard Co, KY and Clampett family records and Meta Daltons Bible Records.

!DEATH: Meta Dalton's Bible Records and letter from Connie Breneman, July 11, 1996: "Yesterday our Scouts did an Eagle project at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church. ... I was overjoyed to finally locate the stone on my gg grandfather James Henry Clampett's grave. He was to the right of Martha (his mother). It was face up and after over 100 years of rain and wind was pretty worn. We could read Clampett and 'ly 22' and '1 6' and the words 'born' and 'died'. At the top, we could see a semicircle where James H. was, but the letters were very worn. His birthday was July 22, 1846. We cleaned the stone and took photos. The boys put the stone back today. I have plans to purchase a new stone and put him in the cemetery book so that his grave will be properly marked. Boy, what a thrill it was to find that stone."

He was born June 3, 1881, in Clyde, Texas, and moved to Uvalde in 1900. He was married to Miss Joanna Milam on December 4, 1904, In Uvalde and was a member of the Church of Christ. !NOTES: San Angelo Standard Times: "B.E. Smiths Wed 64 Years: Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Smith of 2614 Guadalupe will observe their 64th wedding anniversary Wednesday. Married December 4, 1904, they are the parents of Presley Smith of 2725 Rio Grande. A daughter, Mrs. Glenna Smith Killough, is desceased. They have one grandchild. From 1904-1965 the couple lived in Uvalde where Smith operated a grocery store. The Smiths are members of the Church of Christ. For many years he was a church elder and song leader."

!NOTES: Uvalde Leader News: "Their 64th: Though their many friends were sorry to see Ed and Joanna Smith leave here to live in San Angelo, they were glad too that they would be near their son. I think they have made so many friends there they are kept busy all the time, and I was glad to know they have just celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. If they have a 65th, I expect Presley, their son, to see that I am invited! I've known them since I was a child, and I don't think I can remember the F. A. Piper store when Ed Smith wasn't there, and in Horners after they bought Piper out. Joanna was a daughter of D. C. Milam, and again I can't seem to remember when I didn't know her and would see her at church every Sunday and Sunday night. The Milams lived west of town on Fort Clark road, a mile futher than my Grandfather Fenley's place. I can see those Milam girls all young again; Arnolia, Lula, Mozelle, Hattie, and Joanna; a bunch of lovely young ladies. And I miss them."
