!DEATH: Lexington News obit dated April 6 1893 col 5 p 3: "Kerdolff- In this city, at 1:30 PM, April 3, 1893, of typhoid pneumonia, Mrs. Martha E., wife of Wm. F. Kerdolff, Sr. aged 63 years. Verily, it would seem that Death has been holding high carnival in our midst during the past few weeks. He has entered so many homes, throwing his sable pall over its inmates, breathing his icy breath where e'er he desired, and carried thence in his grim embrace, the mother in her prime, the daughter and wife in her young beauty and grace, the little bud of promise who was lent to brighten home for a short time; all seasons and all times have been his and hearts are made to bleed afresh at his presence. After only some two weeks of illness, the spirit of Mrs. Martha E. Kerdolff was summoned to meet her God. Only a few days previous she was assisting in nursing one who had been a neighbor for over thirty years, engaging in those friendly offices for those we love, when she was stricken down with what appeared to be a deep cold. She went to her bed, skilled physicians brought their science to bear upon her case, a terder husband and fond children hastened to minister to their beloved, but our Father had need for His child and -- she went home. Mrs. Kerdolff was born in Russellville, KY, April 4, 1830. Her parents were Henry and Mary A. Smith who came to this city and settled in the fall of 1845. She was married to William F. Kerdolff in October, 1848. She has been from early womanhood a consistant, pious Christian, a communicant of the Episcopal Church. She was the mother of seven children, two sons and five daughters, who are left to mourn the priceless treasure of a mother's love. She was the grandmother of fourteen grandchildren, of whom eleven are living at this time."
