James McKethan's 1794 Cumberland County NC will mentions son James.

1790 Cumberland Co. Census: McKeathen, James, Jr. 1M 16+, 1M 0-16, 3F.

No James McKethan is listed on the 1800 Cumberland Co. NC census.

In the 1809 marriage notice for his daughter Christian, he was said to be deceased (see notes for Christian McKethan, Number 9).

In his 1815 will, John "Blind John" McKethan mentions "a certain tract of land in Cumberland County on the west side of Black River "heretofore purchased by me from James MacKethan Jr., decd..."

Other possible children are: Jane McKethan, m. Angus McQueen, Dec. 30, 1803 Mary McKethan m. Daniel McCorquidale by, at least, 1799 Ann McKethan, born about 1788, wife of John Geddie.

An especially strong case for Ann being the daughter of James and sister of Christian (who married Archibald Cameron) can be made using the following land records: A 400 acre survey was granted to John Gaddie and Archibald Cameron on Dec. 13, 1813. They sold this land in two pieces on Nov. 8, 1816:

1. Cumberland Co. Deed Book 17:86 Archibald Cameron & John Gaddie to Isaac Sterling. Nov. 8, 1816. 200 acres part of a 400 acre survey granted to sd. John Gaddie & Archibald Cameron Dec. 13, 1813. Mentioned White Oak Br. Wit Malcom McLeod, John (x) McLeod. Pr. Nov. 1816. Reg. Dec. 2, 1816

2. Cumberland Co. Deed Book 17:87 John Gaddie & Archd Cameron to Jeremiah Tew. Nov. 8, 1816. On Holleys line, Williamson Sw. 200 acres part of 400 acre survey to John Gaddie & Arch Cameron Dec. 13, 1813. Wit Malcom McLeod, John (x) McLeod.

In addition, Elizabeth Geddie, who married Alexander McKethan (son of "Blind John" and nephew of James McKethan Jr.), was the daughter of John and Ann (McKethan) Geddie.

Of course, Archibald Cameron and John Geddie/Gaddie could have been merely business partners, but the evidence seems to point to their being brothers-in-law.
