Source: "The North Carolina Settlement of 1739" by A. I. B. Stewart, in "The Kintyre Antiquarian and Natural History Society Magazine: No. 15. Here it states that Hector of Losset was Lauchlan McNeill Buie's fifth son. Another article by Stewart in a later edition of the magazine states that Hector was Lauchlan's oldest son by his first wife.
