Sampson County NC Deed Book 19:394. June 10, 1818. John McKethan to Alex McAlester. 320 a. 1/2 of 640 acres patented by James McKethan Sr. decd and bound on one side by land of the heirs of James & Dugal McKethan decd, it being the other half of the same survey undivided containing 320a which land was devised to me by my father John McKethan decd. On Taylor's Swamp formerly known by the name of Glade. Wit. Thos. Gilmore, Isabella Gilmore. Proved Aug 1821, Reg. Aug. 31, 1825. [Note that Isabella Gilmore was Isabella McNeill, who first married Hector McAllister and had daughter Loveday Campbell McAllister (wife of A. A. McKethan Sr.)]

John also sold land in Sampson County on Dec. 4, 1818 (Deed Book 18:43), and was one of the heirs of Dougald McKethan who sold land in Sampson Co. NC in 1841 (See notes for "Blind John" McKethan).

John was also one of the heirs of Neill McKethan and Dougald McKethan named in the 1843 division of their estates (see notes for "Blind John" McKethan).
