According to notes of Jane McKethan Rankin, he emigrated to Wilmington, NC in 1795. Additional information from the Clan McLaurin WWW page, where it is stated that they came to America in 1795 from Glen Etive, near Appin Argyleshire, Scotland, with their seven sons and two daughters. They settled at Laurel Hill, near Laurinburg, NC.
