"In May, 1751, Anthony Pouncey obtained a grant for land in the Welch [sic] Tract. He petitioned for and obtained a grant for 800 acres on the Wateree, April 6th, 1749, where he probably settled first. In this petition he stated that he had a wife, six children, and eight slaves. The name of William Pouncey appears about the same time. The former was probably the father of William and Roger." (Provided by Jennifer Barrett, via Wiley Jarrell).

He was living 1736 in Pee Dee.

Hurricane Creek is north of Cashaway, SC.
