Birth and death dates are from "The Story of Fayetteville," which gives his marriage date as 1883. AMcA gives the marriage date as 1884.

He entered the turpentine & naval stores business with McDiarmid & Co. until 1882, when he assumed management of Orton Rice Plantation in Brunswick. Co. NC. In 1884 he and his wife moved to Clinch Co. GA where he worked in turpentine and naval stores for 23 years. he purchased the Evans homestead "Woodland" in Grays Creek in 1909 and lived there until his death Sept. 3,, 1930. (Story of Fayetteville).
