She never married. She lived with her Sister Callie (McKethan) Purdie and niece Kitty Purdie in the old McKethan home at 245 Person Street, Fayetteville, NC until about 1960. At that time Callie had died and the old home was difficult to keep up, so she and Kitty moved to a new home in the Fayetteville suburbs. (Personal knowledge of Alice Mason, who well remembers visiting Kitty and "Aunt Gusta" at both the old home and the new one).
