We have found no records concerning the birth of her son Alfred Augustus McKethan, nor are there any indications of who his father might have been.

1820 Cumberland Co. NC census: MacKethen, Christin 1M 10-16, 1F 16-26 But Christian is in the 50-60 age range on the 1840 census for Neill McLeran, and Jane McKethan Rankin (her great-granddaughter) recorded her birth year as 1787, unfortunately without naming her source.

Shortly before her marriage to Neill McLeran, Christian deeded the property at Silver Run which she had inherited from her father John McKethan to her son Alfred Augustus McKethan, reserving the right to use it during her lifetime (Cumberland Co. NC Deed Book 33:240). She probably did this to insure that, should she die before Neill, the land would go to her son Alfred McKethan rather than to her husband Neill McLeran.

The date of Christian's marriage to Neill McLeran is given in Cumberland Co. Marriage Records. The date of her death is recorded in the family Bible of Alfred Augustus McKethan, now (1997) in the possession of Mrs. Dorothy McKethan Mason, Brooksville, FL.

Alfred Augustus McKethan, in his will, directed that a fence be built around his mother's grave in Flea Hill (now Eastover) Township. The exact location of this grave is not currently known, and no tombstone has been found for either Christian or Neill McLeran.
