!MARRIAGE: Marriage records in Logan County Kentucky say she was Sue Given which is proved wrong by the 17th of January 1914 Obit in the Celburne, Texas Daily Enterprise.

!NOTES: Cleburne Texas Paper, April 17, 1912: "Mrs. Dalton Dies Last Night. Wife of Johnson County Surveyor Passes Away. Funeral at 3:30 Today. She had Reached the Advanced Age of 72 Years - She Was Born in State of Kentucky. Mrs. D. G. (big) Dalton, wife of the Johnson county surveyor, passed away at her home at No. 423 West Willingham street about 10:35 o'clock last night. Primarily her death was due to pneumonia. She had reached the advanced age of 72 years, and her constitution was not able to withstand serious attackd of this kind. She had careful attention throughout her illness. She was born in Logan County, Kentucky in 1840, and was married to Mr. D. G. Dalton in 1858 in that county. Her maiden name was Sue Irwin. They moved to Texas in 1872 and located in Johnson county in 1875. Five children were born and reared by them as follows: Mrs. C. B. Smith, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Mrs. S. P. Weaver, Grandview, Mrs Gene Hornbuckle, Venus; Mrs. R. D. Hardcastle, Cleburne; Joe G. Dalton, Cleburne. She had lived an active life and was well liked by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. She was a good mother and a faithful wife and will be greatly missed by all of her friends and loved ones. The funeral will take place at the family residence at 3:30 this afternoon. This paper joins the many friends of the deceased in extending sympathy to the bereaved during this hour of sorrow."

!NOTES: Cleburne Daily Enterprise, April 18, 1912: "Aged Lady Dies. Mrs. Sue Dalton Passes away after long sickness. Mrs. Sue Dalton died at the family home on 121 West Willingham at 10:30 o'clock last night. Deceased had been very sick for several weeks and the end was not unexpected and loving children and friends has been tenderly nursing her until the Death Angel relieved her of her sufferings. Deceased was born in Logan County, Kentucky in 1840 and was therefore 72 years of age. In 1858, Sue was marred to Mr. D. G. Dalton and together they reached an advanced age. They came to Texas in 1872 and located in Johnson county in 1875. Five children were born of this union and all survive the mother. They are as follows: Mrs. C. B. Smith of Muscogee, OK, Mrs. S. P. Weaver, Grandview, Mrs. Gene Hornbuckle, Venus, Mrs. R. D. Hardcastle, Cleburne, and Joe G. Dalton, Cleburne. The deceased was a true Christian woman, a devoted wife, loving mother, and was loved by a large circle of friends, and her pure life and wise counsels will live long among her relatives and friends."

!NOTES: Meta Dalton's Bible records states she was married on 3 Feb 1857. These bible records also add she was Susan Cheatham Irwin indicating she might be related to the Cheatham family.
