!NOTES: Obit in San Antonio Express Newspaper, May 18, 1994: "Jean Hardcastle Stampp passed away May 17, 1994. She was born in Cleburne, texas, March 15, 1905, then moved to Houston, Texas, as a small child. After graduating from Texas Women's University (formerly CIA), with a degree in music. She taught music in the Houston Public School System for 13 years. She and her husband moved to San Antonio in 1943, when he became the owner of the Downtown Motors, a Ford dealership. he later established Devine Motor Company in Devine, Texas. Mrs. Stampp was active in church, civic, and social organizations. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, had served on the Boards of the San Antonio Symphony Society, the Protestant Children's Home and the Christmas Clearing Bureau. She was a former Chairman of the San Antonio Home and Garden Pilgrimage, a former President and Chairman of the Board of the Charity Ball Association, a member of the Battle of Flowers Association, and the San Antonio County Club. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, J. Frank Stampp. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Dan M. Johnson, and one grandson, Richard Franklin Johnson, all of San Antonio. Two sisters-in-law, Elaine Hardcastle of St. Louis, MO, and Lillian Heath of Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Service, Thursday at 4:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church."
