!NOTE: July 17, 1909 Obit: "After an illness extending over a period of several months, Mrs. John C. Gibson passed peacefully away Wednesday at 1:30 A.M. at the home on West Main street. Mrs Gibson had been hovering between life and death several weeks, and more than once it was thought by anxious watchers that the end was near, but with a remarkable vitality the fight for life was prolonged.

Mrs. Gibson was born in Franklin County, Tennessee, July 9, 1834, was therefore 73 years old. She was Miss Amelia Patrick, and was married to John M. Hines in 1854. Five children blessed this union three of whom are living. They are Mrs. C. W. Gibson, Mrs. J. B. McCaul, and Miss Anna Hines. After Mr. Hine's death she lived a widow for several years and on January 5, 1871, was married to Mr. J C Gibson. Two children were the result of this union, one of whom was Mrs. Rufe Bynum, is still living. She was the stepmother of Messrs. C. W. and W. A. Gibson. She has two brothers and two sisters living. They are Capt. M. T. Patrick and Mrs. Mary West of this city, Mr. Richard Patrick and Mrs. Fannie Moseley of Tennessee. Mrs. Gibson came to Texas and located in Ellis County soon after the first marriage." She was a member of the Main Street Christian Church and was baptized in 1882.
