emigration pass,mis known to have departed between Aug 18, 1846 and Aug 18, 1847. The permission having a durtion of only one year. His name, however is not found listed among any availabe lists for that period covering passengers arriving at either Galveston or Indianola, an indication that he may have reached Texas via New Orleans or some other American Port. Prior to emigrating, he had served in the "Prinz Waldeck und Frau Emma Fusilier Bataillon" from July 1837 until his discharge on Aug 16 1846, two days before he applied for and received his emigration pass. In Texas, Christian folled the occupation f farming as well as peddling goods in the tri-county area surrounding Schertz-Cibolo. He and Margarethe's marriage was not without difficulties and on several occasions they parted. At the time of the 1880 Guadalupe census they were living in seperate households.
