!DEATH: Tombstone located just off Highway 85 and justeast of the Trinity River in the northwest corner of the county. He left no will.

!NOTES: Thomas Berry was born in Alabama about 1814, acording to the age given on his tombstone. (He could have been born several years later from the ages in various census records.) In the last 1830's he moved to Ft Houston in the Republic of Texas. (This is now Anderson County, Texas.) He married Pamela Campbell about 1839.

!NOTES: On 28 October 1839, Thomas applied for a Land Grant of 640 acres in what is now Henderson County, Texas.

!NOTES: In 1842, he served in the Army of Texas as a 1st Lieutenant of Daniel M. Crist's Company under the command of General James Smith in the campaign against the Caddo and other Indians.

!NOTES: Sometime between 1845 and 1848, Thomas married a second time.

!NOTES: During the Civil War, he was enrolled in a Reserve Company, but apparently he did not see any action.
