Jordan resided in Abbyville Dist., SC for about 10 years.. As a resident of Henry Co., Va at age 31 he served in the Revolutionary War.

In about 1813 Jordan moved his family to Hickman Co., TN. He was one of the first settlers of the Beaver Dam Creek Area. In 1851 he moved to Arkansas where he died at 101 years of age. (This is based on the original birthdate that was given to him when we thought he was the son of THOMAS MILAM (1727-1775) Later research by Robert Wilbanks, IV verifies that he was actually the son of Jordan Milam and Sarah Kemp and listed in the Douglas Register as this couple's first child and born on this date. The earlier (1750) date made it possible for him to have been born to either John, Thomas or Archibald.

Refering to MILAM ROOTS, Vol. 6, No. 4 further substantiates the history and migration pattern of this Jordan Milam. (1) A list of militia ordered in 1781 from Henry County, VA to the assistance of Gen Green on Mar 11th includes Dudley and Jordan Mileham in James Cowdin's Company. Henry county bordered Bedford Co. and this may have been the reason that he was originally thought to be the son of Thomas.

(2) In 1832, Jordan, a resident of Hickman Co. TN applied for a pension from the U. S. as a Rev. War Vet. He gave his age as "83 next 26th of Feb." {that would indicate the 1750 birthdate} but in the application he also stated that served in the Militia from Henry County, VA that matches the above.

(3) On Nov 23, 1782 Jerdon Milom and Samuel Milom appear on a petitin in Bedford Co. regarding the breakup of Bedford Co. - remember that Henry County borders Bedford Co at this time.

(4) Samuel Milam appears on Henry Co. Tax lists between 1782 and 1787,but Jordan does not. No listing of Jordan until 1800 and had be been born 1750 the son of

(5) 1790 lists Samuel Milam in Abbeville Co., nineth-six Dist. with 2 white males over 16, no males under 16 and 2 females. One of thes males MUST be Jordan. There is no seperate listing for him and...........

(4) Jordan married Mary Peacock in 1792 in Abbeville Co., Ninety-six Dist.

(5) 1800 census of Abbeville Dist. SC lists Jordan on page 20, the oldest male being between 26 & 45: thus being born between 1755 and 1774 - had he been born in 1750, he would have been 50. Samuel is listed in the same census on page 19, 1 male and 1 female over 45.
