Steve completed his elementary and high school education in Uvalde, Texas. While enrolled in Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde, he was one of only three persons throughout Texas and Oklahoma to be selected for bank examiner training. He earned his B. A. degree in Business from Abilene Christian College while also receiving training as a bank examiner. He served as a Federal Bank Examiner for 13 years, until resigning to become affiliated with First State Bank in Hewitt, Texas as President. He held this position for 8 years. When Consolidated Bankshares, Inc. took control of First State Bank, Steve worked for them as Executive Vice-President and Chief Executive Officer. Also, in 1988 he was Chairman of the Board of Lancaster (Tx) First Consolidated Bank, President of Ferris (Tx) First Consolidated Bank and President and Board Chairman of C. B. Computers. He has been through the Federal Bank Reorganization period and is still in the banking business, although he says "It's not as much fun as it used be." He has been president of the local school board for many years. He serves as Deacon for his church, Church of Christ and the entire family are active in their church. Steve enjoys photography as a hobby. Jany completed her elementary and high school education in Bracketville, Texas and earned her B. A. Degree in Education from Abilene Christian College. She has taught in Elementary and Junior High Schools in Riesel and Waco, Texas.
