!NOTES: Obit handwritten by J Wahrenberger and Son, General Merchandise, Conroe, Texas letterhead: Samuel Austin Crawford, age 85, of Willis, Texas, died in the Montgomery County Hospital in Conroe, Saturday, September 1st at 9:25 p.m. A native of Houston, Mississippi, he had lived in Willis for the past 57 years, during that time he had engaged in the practice of lwa in Willis and Conroe. Mr. Crawford taught school in Winfield, LA for several years. He then entered the Tulane University School of law and graduated from there in 1896. He moved to Willis to practice law. He was married in Willis in 1899. Mrs. Crawford was Leila Smith before her marriage. She died January 1, 1951. Mr. Crawford was a member of the Methodist Church in Willis, the Willis Rotary Club, the Montgomery County Bar Assn, the Texas Bar Assn, adn the American Bar Assn. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Crawford Sykes of Willis, a son T. W. Crawford of Conroe. Two sisters, L. E. Lloyd of Benoit, Mississippi, and Mrs. R. O. Woodard of Jackson, Tennesse. One brother, Owen Crawford, of Missouri. Two granddaughters, Mrs Margaret Sykes Maurogordato, of Rio de Janeiro, and Mrs. Arnold Sykes Cahan of New York City, and four great grandsons. Funeral services will be held Monday, Spetember 3rd at 4:00 p.m. at the residence in Willis. ... Entombment will follow in the Willis Cemetery."
