!NOTES: Obit (paper and date unknown): Joe M. Parr, 84, died Tuesday, October 20, 1992, at his home after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Central Christian Church with the Rev. O. C. Harper and the Rev. David Dickinson, officiating. Interment with Masonic graveside rights will be in the Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home. Parr was born January 21, 1908 in Fannin County, Texas, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Riley Vandorn Parr. He had been a resident of Vernon since the age of six months. He was a graduate of Vernon High School in 1927. He attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas and in 1930 he became co-owner of Parr Brothers Produce. He married the former Marceille Bell on June 18, 1933. In 1939 he became the owner of the Parr Tire Company and Service Station and from 1962 until 1978 he was the owner of the Parr Furniture Store. He was a member of the Central Christian Church where he served as a deacon, elder and a board member. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 655, the Order of the Easter Starr No. 424 and the Woodsman of the World No. 143 and the Vernon Lions Club. He is survived by three daughters, Zo Ella Thomas of Amarillo, Twylia Joe Parr of Vernon and Bettye Jones of Beaumont; a sister, Geneva Hurspeth of Tuscon, Arizona; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife on May 3, 1991; four sisters, Neela Mae Carlocken, Mary Alyce Basil, William Frank Parr, and Riley S. Parr."
