!NOTE: Presley grew up in Uvalde, Texas and completed his public schooling there. He served in the U. S. Army in WWII and saw a lot of action. He was fortunate to have survived the "Battle of The Bulge" campaign. Irene was born and raised in Abilene, one of a family of five girls, and completed her primary education in the public schools there. Presley and Irene both attended, and graduated from Abilene Christian College, where they met. Both have spent their entire lives in the teaching profession. Presley taught in the Elementary School at Knippa, Uvalde county, Texas and later at Carrizo Springs, Dimmitt county, Texas. Irene taught High School Mathematics classes at Carrizo Springs, after having started her teaching career at Benjamin, Texas teaching High School Math. They both taught at Iraan, Texas for 5 years and in 1955 they moved to San Angelo, Texas where Presley took employment with the McGill Elementary School. He was there for 17 years teaching 6th grade. Irene also taught in the San Angelo School system at Central High for 17 years. They retired in 1973 and moved to Abilene, Texas. They remained in Abilene until the fall of 1991 when Irene broke her hip and they could no longer live alone. They were forced to move to Dallas where Presley Jr. could help take care of them. They were very devout members of their church, the Church of Christ and devoted at lot of time the affairs of the church. Both suffered from Altzimers disease and were soon mentally disabled by this terrible malady. Presley died in 1993. Irene is in a health care facility in Dallas as this is written (1995).

!NOTE: [Editor's note: In researching for this work, other Milam descendants were located in Abilene. Donald and Ann Kolle were put in touch with Presley and Irene. Recent research shows other Milam descendants in Abilene who taught in the schools there. Not sure of the time-frame, however.]
